Top Tip from Ben, QLD Partnerships Coordinator

SAY WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT YOU

Many of you are preparing for exams, ATAR scores, Year 12 or next steps. It’s normal to feel anxious at times like this – there are a lot of unknowns! One of the best things I’ve found in times like this is choosing one thing God says about you and coming back to it every day. Write it on your mirror, make it your phone lock screen, or pray it each morning. If you’re not sure what to pick, check the attached document. Choose a phrase and rewrite it as an “I AM” statement (e.g. I AM God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works – Ephesians 2:10). Read it daily until it sinks from your head into your heart. Praying for you!

DISCIPLESHIP MESSAGE

God Deserves our Best!

1 Chronicles 29:1

King David said to the entire assembly: “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is just an inexperienced young man, and the task is great, for this palace is not for man, but for the Lord God.” Whether you are starting or finishing with Veta, my encouragement is to give God the best of everything.

In the Old Testament, worship, for the nation of Israel was about giving God their best – their best crops, their best animals, their best time. In the book of 1 Chronicles, when King David hands over the leadership of Israel to his son Solomon, his great dream is that Solomon will build a temple to honour God. And, because this temple was being made for God, it has to be the best of the best. The best materials, the best craftsmanship, the best design. No compromise.  And so David prepares everything he can to give Solomon the best possible chance of success.

And a beautiful temple is created. In the New Testament, the Apostle Peter describes believers in Jesus as ‘living stones’ who are ‘being built up as a spiritual house’ to offer praise and worship to God. And, just like the Israelites with their temple, the spiritual house we are part of has to be ‘the best of the best’. You are a ‘living stone’, an essential part of a living temple of worship for God. Not a physical building, but the faithful community of God’s people, built on the foundation of Jesus. And Jesus wants you to be the most beautiful, precious stone you can be.

Whether you are finishing or starting your journey with Veta, I pray that you will bring your best to God, because God deserves our best!
